Micmac – Mi’kmaq, the People of the Sea
The Micmac were the first to encounter the European newcomers in the 16th century. Their fishing and navigation skills made them of invaluable assistance to explorers and traders. Today, the Micmac promote their history through the development of ancestral sites and practice of traditional salmon fishing.
